Hello Elizabeth: It sounds like you have done a fantastic job recording your family history!! To find the Tulameen Cemetery: Tulameen is about 26 km west of Princeton. When you are on Bridge Street in Princeton, cross the one lane bridge at the end of the street and turn left. Keep going until you get to the stop sign in Coalmont (the only stop sign you will see). Turn right (the old Coalmont Hotel will be ahead of you at the stop sign). Follow this road all the way to Tulameen. Once in Tulameen, turn west (left) on Second Street (the Tulameen General Store is at this intersection). Go up the hill and the Cemetery is part way up on your right. It is easy to miss, so keep your eyes peeled for it. There is a dirt road leading into it.
Warmest Regards,
Diane

YES !! Several years later ! Yes this is wonderful to have confirmed information ! Heartfelt thank you’s ! The 3 children that passed away are in fact my Mom’s cousins. They all 3 died in a fire in a small cabin on my great-grandpa’s property that used to overlook the Tulameen Cemetery ! The oldest of the 3 had been playing with the fire in the wood stove that the mother had started in order to warm up the cabin. Then she went up a hill to gather some eggs and milk from chickens and cows in the barn. I read an old newspaper article on ancestry.com. My Mom was the youngest grand daughter of John Jerry Marks. The youngest of his daughters ( Alice Olivia Marks Jackson ) was her mother. My Mom recently passed away on June 28, 2021.
Before my Mom passed she asked me to find some family members for her. Before her passing. Through ancestry.com I found such a big wealth of family history. I met online some distant cousins related to her grandma – John Jerry’s wife. This person had emailed me a few interesting items from their research. This is where I came across of the newspaper article about the fire. The newspaper got statements directly from Alice Olivia’s older sister, Margaret. Also from John Jerry Marks too. This distant cousin also told me that John Jerry is buried with those 3 kids that passed away in the fire. John Jerry was so extremely sad at the loss of his grandkids. He wanted to be buried with them. The Mom and father moved away from Tulameen to Calmont as the pain from the 3 kids was too much for them. Even more so for the Dad. 1 year later the Dad shot himself on the 1 year anniversary. Margaret the Mom did remarry 1 more time and did in fact have 2 more kids with her second husband. She had a girl and a boy. The boys name was Gordon. He has sadly passed away. The only person remaining is the girl. She lives in the lower part of BC province just above the US. She had 4 daughter and 1 son. Gordon had no children. My Mom’s older siblings are all passed on now. There are just the great grand kids left of John Jerry Marks. Some in BC province and all over the US. I was born in Washington State. Then they all spread as people do in their life journeys.
I remember growing up we were drug up there seemingly almost every other weekend during warmer months. The last for me – when I was 14 yrs. old. She always had to show us her kids the location of where her cousins were buried on that hillside. It was surrounded by trees and a little white picket fence as I remember it. I never knew if there was a cemetery in Tulameen ? Or possibly this Granite Creek Cemetery ? I’ve also visited the old Granite Creek log cabins. I now have the pictures to match my memories that my Mom had taken back in the 70″s. I can send you copies if you wish ?
Could you please share and tell me exactly where the Tulameen Cemetery is located ? I’m hoping to plan a road trip up there some day soon. Since my Mom passed away I’ve been wanting to show my daughter my Mom’s family history. I also would like to revisit some childhood places my Mom took us. I’d very much like to visit the Tulameen museum to see what they might have on my Mom’s family up there ? For me it will be my last trip up there. But it will gift my daughter with seeing in person the history of her grandma ! That means so much to us both !
Lastly I’d like to thank-you again for the above information from your response.
Gratefully,
Elizabeth Salazar

A William Bradford Marks (1868 – Sept. 20, 1953) is also buried at the Tulameen Cemetery. I don’t know if they are related to one another.

I did find a reference to 3 children who all died on the same date who are buried at the Tulameen Cemetery. They are: Bernice Robinson (1931 – Aug. 24, 1935), James Albert Robinson (1934 – Aug. 24, 1935), and Patricia Robinson (1932 – Aug. 24, 1935). Perhaps these are the three children you are referring to.

I hope this is of some help to you.

I haven’t been up there since the 1970’s. I’m the great-granddaughter of John Jerry Marks. He had a daughter Margaret that had 3 young children that died in a fire up there. If this is possibly the same cemetery ? Not sure. I just know its somewhere around Tulameen. Possibly on a slight slope is how I remember the grave. With trees. The 3 children were buried in the same grave.
Any information would be wonderful ?! Thank-you !
