I know of quite a few old graveyards here in Eastern North Carolina that contain magnolia trees. I have heard it has to do with its evergreen status, and that the tree is seen as a sort of protector spirit. I’m curious if you have come across similar explanations?

Against religion or folklore to break off small branches of dogwoods? i.e, bad luck? Early death?

I am a tree and flower lover. Small cuttings rooted back at home
